What are the legal requirements for exporting a subset of the variant calls from the WGS or WES in DNAnexus to our internal (not local machine) work environment. Can we export a subset of variant calls to join with the clinical data?
The reason is so we can do our analysis on clinical plus genetics data in our internal env where we have all the tools set up. We are ok with working on the genetic part to extract the relevant variant in DNAnexus. Also, is there any legal verbiage somewhere that specifically answer the question of can a subset of variant call can be downloaded from DNAnexus to internal ukb data environment (one that respect the UKB agreement with respect to security and data access)
Can data be downloaded, exported or otherwise egressed out of the Research Analysis Platform?
From a policy standpoint, you are responsible for complying with the Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) and with any other rules set forth by UK Biobank. As of June 2021, Annex 1 of the MTA states that "any WGS (whole genome sequence) or WES (whole exome sequence) files [..] must not be transmitted or downloaded from the research analysis platform". In addition, depending on the tier of your access application, you may or may not be allowed to egress certain other data.
