Research Analysis Platform - R Studio vs. Stata

Hi everyone,

I'm a PhD student planning to use UK Biobank data to test associations between mental health and diet.

From my understanding, Stata can be accessed via the stata_kernel in Jupyter notebooks, and the Research Analysis Platform (RAP) supports Stata16, although other versions of Stata can be installed onto the RAP if you have a licence.

Comparatively, R Studio is available on RAP as a standalone application, and might be a better option as a full feature statistical analysis environment.

I'm unsure whether to use Stata or R Studio, as one of my supervisors has experience using Stata for UK Biobank analyses, but not on RAP, and I'm unsure about its functionality on this platform. I'd appreciate any insights or experience regarding the benefits and limitations of using either software on RAP.

Thank you for your time😊
