'Replace' coding option and mapping values from the sleep questionnaire data Answered
Update [08 Jul 2025]: A fix for the issue described in this article was deployed in July 2025, and data exported using the ‘replace’ coding option are now being correctly mapped to their associated meanings.
UK Biobank has identified an issue with some fields from the sleep questionnaire data where certain values are not being mapped to their meaning when using the ‘replace’ coding option.
As a temporary workaround, we recommend using the 'raw' coding option. Values can be mapped to the associated meaning using the Showcase Metadata files.
We are collaborating with DNAnexus to resolve this issue and will provide updates as soon as more information is available.

The GitHub notebook "Access the Sleep Questionnaire data" provides two methods for extracting the accurate data and a note on how to join the accurate encoding meanings to the raw encoded values.
