Data field 1558 - longitudinal?

Hyundam Gu

Hi, I am a junior investigator who has recently started using UK Biobank data.

Regarding data field 1558 (alcohol intake frequency), is this considered longitudinal data? In other words, it appears that this variable was measured at four different time points (instances). Are there overlapping participant populations across these instances such that we could derive time-varying information - even if not all participants have measurements at all four instances?

Thanks!

    Hi Hyundam

Thanks for your post on the UKB Community Forum.

Data for field 1558 is collected from our participants during their visit to an Assessment Centre.

Data for instances 1, 2 and 3 was collected from participants who attended the instance 0 Initial assessment visit.

All participants attended an initial assessment centre. A proportion were invited several years later to repeat the assessment. For some participants the repeat visit also captured information which was not gathered during their initial visit.

    Kind regards

    Matt
