Hot Drink Temperature

Hi,

How do we find out why certain questions were included? I'm particularly curious about the question ‘How do you like your hot drinks?’
What was the motivation for including this question?

    Hi Philip,

The question about "How you like your hot drinks" has been asked of participants since the baseline assessments in 2006.  Whilst the showcase documentation for the diet questions doesn't show why particular questions were asked, I note that the same question was asked in the Million Women Study 8-year re-survey (https://www.ceu.ox.ac.uk/research/the-million-women-study/recruitment-and-data-collection).  Often our questionnaires use questions asked in other surveys and this may be an example. I see that there is some research suggesting the temperature of what we eat and drink may influence our mental and digestive health and this may have been part of the motivation for asking the question (eg https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12507458/)

Thank you for using the community forum
