UKB-RAP: update on phased re-opening of access Pinned Featured

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to update you on our current expectations for the re-opening of access to the UK Biobank Research Analysis Platform (UKB-RAP).

We have completed the work required to ensure that the UKB-RAP is secure. The providers of health outcome data will review an independent assessment of its security prior to agreeing to allow us to make their data available to researchers again. Consequently, whilst there has been positive progress, we do not now anticipate that re-opening access will start before October.

In parallel, we have made good progress with receiving confirmation of the deletion of data that were provided previously as downloads for projects that have now ended. Phased access to the UKB-RAP will start for those researchers at institutions where data deletion has been confirmed for all such projects.

I should like to thank you for your support with completing UK Biobank’s transition from the previous data download access model towards more secure access for research within the UKB-RAP. I shall be back in touch with you as soon as I have more definite information about re-opening access.

Best wishes,

Professor Sir Rory Collins,

CEO and Principal Investigator,

UK Biobank

Hi Tracy, thanks for your message and your understanding. We know how important the UKB-RAP is to your research and want to reassure you that we are working as hard as possible to restore access. We'll be sharing an update soon which should provide more clarity.

    Kind regards,
    Dan

Hi, Thank you to the UK Biobank team for your work during this difficult period.
But so far are there any updates on the reopening of the UKB RAP? As we are already in week 2 of October . While we fully understand that these security assessments and the transition to the UKB-RAP are necessary to protect the integrity of the data, but a lot of us rely on the data and the analysis on RAP for our project and/or thesis work and are bound by strict institutional deadlines. A definite date on when we should expect reopening would be really helpful.

Just jumping on to support and echo your comments. Though I also appreciate the hard work to get us back online, I am also quickly approaching a strict thesis deadline, with the time left to do any analysis approx. 5 months. It's incredibly concerning we haven't got a concrete date or any further update on when access will be restored.
