Self report diagnosis/operation codes and dates do not match. For example, there will be 4 diagnoses for one participant, but 5 dates for the same participant, making it impossible to match the diagnoses to dates for that participant. I also noticed that all participants with mismatches have the diagnosis code '99999', if that is useful to know.
This is a known issue affecting a few fields. I am sorry this is causing you trouble. It is due to a loss of duplicated codes, such that only one occurrence of each diagnosis code is shown. Code 99999 means ?other unspecified?, which is why it is the most likely code to have apparent duplicates. As you say, this makes it impossible to link to the correct dates in field 87.
A proper resolution is being worked on. In the meantime, researchers who need the full list including the apparent duplicates, for example because they need to find the dates in the related field, can request the fields in a basket via AMS-Showcase, and upload the result to the RAP.
For documentation on using baskets, see Resource 747 on managing baskets and the Data Access Guide for accessing the result.
