Researcher training now available Pinned
To access UK Biobank data on the UK Biobank Research Analysis Platform (UKB-RAP), researchers must complete three mandatory training courses:
-
MRC’s Research, GDPR & Confidentiality course
This is needed to begin a project on the UKB-RAP. You first need to upload evidence of completion for this test to your AMS account. Please ensure that the completion date is within the last 12 months.
-
An Introduction to using UK Biobank (13 mins)
This course introduces the data types and resources available and the process for gaining access. You will also learn about your responsibilities as a researcher. It is delivered by Lauren Carson PhD, Head of Research Development, UK Biobank.
-
An introduction to the UKB-RAP (27 mins)
This course will guide you on how to start analysing data, choose your tools, and balance speed and cost. It is delivered by George Foody PhD, Bioinformatician, UK Biobank.
Once you have completed each training session you can complete the associated test via your AMS profile. There are two short, multiple choice, online tests and you must achieve 80% to gain access to the data. Your AMS profile will be updated after you complete the tests.
Important Information:
- Deadline for Completion: All existing UKB-RAP users must complete these training courses by 28 February 2025.
- For Principal Investigators and Lead Collaborators: Course 3 (An Introduction to the UKB-RAP) is optional if they will not be using the UKB-RAP.
If there are any topics you would like UK Biobank to cover for further optional courses, please share your suggestions in the UK Biobank Forum.
