Microsoft Authentication for AMS

  • Updated

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) has been introduced as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a high level of security within AMS. In addition to entering their password, users will now be required to verify their identity using the Microsoft Authenticator app. This additional layer of security further strengthens account protection by reducing the risk of unauthorised access if a password is compromised.

What does this mean for my next login to AMS?

The next time you log in to AMS, you will be prompted to update your password. If your username contains an ‘@’ symbol (e.g. username@email.com), you will also need to update your username to remove this, as it is not compatible with Microsoft authentication.

Once you have updated your details, you will be automatically logged out of AMS. You will then need to log in again using your updated credentials and follow the steps below to set up Microsoft Authenticator.

Step 1

Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your ios or android device, then scan the QR code to register your AMS account with Microsoft Authenticator (Can’t scan the QR code? Click here to find out how).

Step 2

You will now see your AMS username on the Microsoft Authenticator app (if you have other accounts registered to this app, scroll to the bottom to see your latest addition)

Step 3

On the AMS page, enter the 6 digit code (this code refreshes every 30 seconds), then click ‘Verify’ to log in to AMS.
