"502 Bad Gateway" when trying to open RStudio

Hi,

I'm a real beginner on RAP.

When I try to launch R Studio, I get this error “502 Bad Gateway. Something went wrong. No service listening on the HTTPS application you attempted to access. Contact the developer of the application to check its status.”

I've tried several times but I always get the same error.

Could someone please help me?

Thanks!

    Hi Giovanni,

please see the documentation here https://dnanexus.gitbook.io/uk-biobank-rap/working-on-the-research-analysis-platform/running-analysis-jobs/rstudio , and these videos might be useful, https://www.dnanexus.com/partnerships/ukb-rap-user-help-center/webinars/rstudio .

It is recommended to use Priority:High for RStudio instances.  It is necessary to wait for the session status to change from Initializing to Ready before clicking on it.

If none of that helps, please contact the DNAnexus Support team directly, using

or by clicking the Support button on the UKB-RAP landing page.

Thank you for using the forum.

I'm having a similar issue with a Jupyter notebook, and I think I can wait for it to resolve, but could you point out where in the Monitor tab to check the session status? There's a field for “state”, which is kind of a similar word to “status”, but it doesn't seem to contain the right info because the state was listed as "Running", not “Initializing” or “Ready”.

Hi Eric, if you select Tools - JupyterLab you should get a list of jupyterlab jobs, with a Status column, like this

If you go back to the main projects page, and select the Monitor tab, you will get a list of all kinds of activity except the cohort browser, with a State column, like this

Thank you for using the forum.

Hi, I am getting the same error with JupyterLab and “Running” as session state. The videos are not helpful. How can I solve this issue?

    Hi Francesco,

don't look at the Monitor tab session state, you need to look at the JupyterLab Status column, and wait until it says “Ready”.   (It is likely to take at least 10 minutes to go from “Initializing” to “Ready”.)

If you still get “502 Bad Gateway” even after the Status column says Ready, then please contact DNAnexus Support directly, by email to ukbiobank-support@dnanexus.com

Thank you for using the forum.
