How do I verify my institution when registering with UK Biobank?

  • Updated

When registering to use UK Biobank data, you must provide details of the institution you work for through the UK Biobank Access Management System (AMS).

To add your institution:

  1. Search for your institution in the list provided in AMS.
  2. If your institution is listed, select it.
  3. If your institution is not listed, enter its details as part of your registration.
What information is needed to verify my institution?

To approve an institution, we need:

  • Evidence of research activity: Confirmation that your institution is a legitimate research organisation with a history of conducting health-related research.
  • Institutional website: A publicly accessible website confirming the organisation's activities, location and associated email domain. The website must be accessible internationally.
  • Legal entity name: The institution's full legal name, as it appears on official documents.
