Why does my UKB-RAP approval show an expiry date?

  • Updated

When you first register to use the UK Biobank Research Analysis Platform (UKB-RAP), you must validate your account through the Access Management System (AMS).

For security reasons, you may occasionally need to revalidate your account. This can happen when you update your details in AMS or when your account information changes.

What do I need to do?

Make sure your AMS account details are up to date, including your date of birth. Changes to your account may need to be verified before you can access UKB-RAP again.

You may also see an expiry date under the Data Platform – Approvals section of your AMS profile.

Why might my UKB-RAP project be deleted?

Projects that are inactive or have insufficient funds may be eligible for deletion to help manage platform resources.

A project may be considered for deletion if it meets either of the following conditions:

1. The project is inactive

  • The project has not been accessed for 60 days, including requests to browse project folders or files.
  • The project contains only UK Biobank data and no user-generated or derived data.

2. The project has insufficient funds

  • The wallet linked to the project has no available funds.
  • The project contains generated data that continues to incur storage charges.
How can I prevent my project from being deleted?

If your project is inactive:

Access your project again to ensure it is no longer considered inactive.

If your project has insufficient funds:

You can take one of the following actions:

  • Add funds to the wallet linked to your project.
  • Transfer the project to another wallet with sufficient funds.
  • Delete all user-generated data to avoid ongoing storage charges.
