VEP annotations

Andrew Anighoro

Hello,

I noticed that the Allele Frequency Browser provides pre-computed VEP annotations for variants extracted from WGS.

Are those annotations available for bulk programmatic access in any way? If not, are there any plans to include them in the RAP?

Thanks

The data behind the browser at afb.ukbiobank.ac.uk is not currently available to researchers as a file.      The research team who produced it are happy to make it available.   At present, UK Biobank is in the process of deciding whether to make it available, and if so how that should be done.   However, there are other more urgent priorities relating to the WGS release.

It is likely that the file will eventually be provided, but we do not have a timeline for this.   It is unlikely to be in the next major refresh, in Q2 2024, and I do not know whether it could be in the one after that.   Please check the Future Timelines page for updates, https://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/enable-your-research/about-our-data/future-data-release-timelines.

Were pre-computed VEP annotations ever released for the UKB WGS dataset?

    Thanks

    Hi David,

see the UKB allele frequency browser, which is based on the WGS and shows VEP annotations, https://afb.ukbiobank.ac.uk/

Sorry, I was referring to the release of the actual data behind the browser. In a message above from about a year ago it was mentioned that such a file would likely eventually be released. However, I don't see this on the timelines page.

    Thanks
